The Duffy Theatre Group came to put on a show for us. It was really cool.

All this term we have carried on with Electives and the group who worked here had to do seed raising for the others to plant in our school gardens.

We couldn't plant the rainbow carrots in our seed trays so we put them straight in the garden.

Term 3 2013

We have done heaps of things this term and need to record it all on our blog.

We went to the beach at Waiomu for the day and had lots of fun swimming, sandcastle building, kayaking, and looking at crabs.

We had a beautiful day!

We had a school camp.
We went to the Karangahake Walkway.
At the bridge over the road we waved to the cars.
 

             March

We have been very busy doing heaps of exciting things.
Our class has had Swan plants growing in our room for the Monarch Caterpillars to eat.
We have been watching the caterpillars out of their skins.
We found out that they lose 4 skins before they spin into their chrysalis.
We watched a caterpillar spin into it's chrysalis and it took a long time.

This year our teacher decided we should tag the Monarch Butterflies for the  Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust.

We had to put  tags on their fiscal cell under their wings. The female tags have to go on their left wing and the male tags go on their right wing.
We hope that somebody finds our tagged butterflies and reports them.

Welcome back to Shaw Block Stars 2013. 

We have started the term with out Monarch Butterfly study. So far we have 85 caterpillars and 24 chrysalises.
